Exactly what I was thinking Van....I looked through the same pics from the old thread last night but didn't see anything on a '68 Trans-Am Camaro. . One interesting thing to note was that Traco was in the shop next door so adds more to this all being a real possibility? . I know you've seen this car in person....sure be interesting to have a closer look noting engine, cage, cell, suspension components etc. . If the Garner connection part is true, this could get even more interesting as Yenko was involved in this group of guys also racing a similar car? . What now? .

I am looking for the original car from Aloha Bobby and Rose. It has been a dream to own it or one like it. I am actually having one replicated to look like it right now, but am interested in finding the original to 1)See it in person,2)see how close we have come to reproducing it.

The information on the Aloha Camaro was forwarded to me from a page on HotDog Express for AOL. It shows the car and gives the short bio on it. This has been the hardest and longest research of a car I have experienced!

I remember seeing a 1969 Yellow Z-28 which was in a grocery store parking lot when the Brady Bunch is scouted by Skip Farnum for the Safe Laundry detergent commercial.

AlohaBR,
The (claimed) Aloha Bobby & Rose car was for sale on ebay about 2 years ago. The guy had the VIN listed in his ad. Was a January '67 built car from the Van Nuys plant. Traco did not build cars, they built engines. Dick Guldstrand had a shop next door to Traco and would have been somebody that Garner would go to to have a race car built. You should check with Dick Guldstrand to see if he built such a car. I have spoken with DG about Camaros which he built in the late '60s and he never mentioned a car for Garner but it is worth calling and asking. -Jon |

[/ QUOTE ] Alohabr .... you should have read this thread in its entirety....it seems as though 1970RSZ28 posted the following on page two of this thread : As a matter of fact, a friend of mine owns the camaro that was in Aloha Bobby and Rose. Once in a while he even drives it. He brought it to work one day and I checked it over pretty good. Traco had built the motor long ago. I would have thought that it would have had a GM cross-ram but it now runs 8 webers. Cam is pretty radical as it hardly idles. Lots of old school race car stuff like fuel cell, roll bar etc. It is a little rough but he wants to leave it as original as possible. Looks like he put a cowl hood on it for that car show in S.F. He also owns the yellow duece coupe and a black hot rod that was in American Grafitti. Your search may be over ![]()

ChevyThunder,
I did read all the posts and saw the one from 1970rsz28 and have sent him 2 private messages, but no response as of yet. Thank you for noticing that post and sending it anyway. Trust me,I have sent numerous emails to different people that were suppose to know something about the car and never had a return comment. I will keep forging ahead, as I am having one built to look like it and after 2-1/2 years it is getting close to being done!!!!!!!! |

Here is a thread on my Porsche forum.. a guy has just completed a book on Mulholland drive and the people who used to race up there... the author is participating in the thread and post pics of his 67 Camaro that he raced in SCCA and up on Mulholland...it looks very similiar to the OB&R car. Flat hood and the flares are a little different...the book sounds way cool too...The car is on page 2 of the thread. Maybe shoot him a PM .

Well, it has taken awhile, but my replica of the Aloha Bobby and Rose Camaro is now on Hot Rods & Custom Stuff website. That is who is doing the work. www.hotrodscustomstuff.com scroll down the home page to the box with all the pages, click on current projects and the next page at the top has the Aloha B&R logo, click on it.
Hope you enjoy |
