the cops would probably stop you just to see the car.
Kind of reminds me of the day my wife took my 70 chevelle out one Saturday afternoon while I wacthed the 4 kidies.
When she did not come back after 45 minutes I began to worry
Then all of a suden the chevelle arrived in the driveway
as I aproched her in the driveway with the 4 kidies in tow
2 squad cars came racing one in each direction and stoped behind the chevelle.
Then the both cops asked use who was driving the car because the neighbours had phoned the cops about a person doing smoke shows showing off in front a buch of kids. Well the 4 kiddies ran to their mothers side worried about her mom being in trouble with the cops. Then my wife expained that she was driving and did not know that the car would accelerate so fast and burn the tires the way they did and she did not mean it. The cops looked at the kidies and my wife then said OK then please drive more carefully the next time.Good one EH!

Peter,

That's a classic story......I can visualize her smokin' the hides sayin..."Holy S--T.........."
To change the subject a bit, Canada certainly has their stuff right when it comes to VIN numbers!!! When I bought my 67 SS427 Chevrolet, which was built in Oshawa, I got soooo much info, i laughed at how GM in the US never kept records except for Pontiac! Running the VIN thru The Ministry and also thru George at GM Vintage Services absolutety, positively gAVE ME THE CONFIDENCE TO BUY THE CAR! I wanna break out and sing....OH Can-A-DA.....!! Check out the pic of Canadian Gold!!!

Peter,
With the little I had to go on, I've gone through my National Dragsters, Mid-Eastern Drag News and numerous magazines and I've come up empty. Sorry.

Vern
You asked me a while back if the car had lettering on it I just found out that the car had lettering on it be it as it was temorary lettering put on just for the track
the Name was PRO SPEED AND CUSTOM. I also found out, as I am tracing all the owners that this car was real bad not only was it a class record holder but also a real bad street racer. The second owner was delighted to hear that the car was still alive. He told me that he raced the hell out of it
both a t the track and on the street. He told me he had to replace the front windshield and weld the roof because the car was flexing big time. That explains why the front windshield is not the origionalone in the car. One night he was racing a Hemi Cuda 4 speed for 100.00 per gear.
Yes he
ate the Hemi."As it was clearly understood the the Camaro had a 427 under the hood". The car did 10:50s at the track. There are a lot of other stories and hope to share some with you. He kept most of the time slips for the car so
hopefully I can get old track pics and some time slips for the car

When I was born my mom drove a 68 442... my dad would hear from his friends all of the time that they saw the car peeling out from stop lights then when they got up beside it there was a woman with a baby in the car seat.

Sorry officer I am just a product of my environment
