What happened to the little ears that position the air cleaner body on the carb? It looks like the were cut off.

I really have no idea. Besides the blasting, this is how it came to me. I am fairly ignorant when it comes to the details of these air cleaners. I can grab some close ups if you like.

That used the very popular AC-Delco A212CW element.
Chevrolet recognizes it as #6421746.
