my guess is that it did not pass inspection to be machined. im sure you could get a rough block as you can now and set your own crank centerline and deck ht for a custom stroke but this thing is really rough. great find though.

Just out of curiosity, what is a "rear" Supercar odddity?
When I worked at Ford Casting in Flatrock MI back in '74, about 40-50% of the castings were scrapped, because the sand wasn't packed just right in the molds. My guess would be the block was red-tagged, and somehow didn't get tossed back into the smolter.
I wonder how that happened?
