Great story. I think it is pretty neat to hear of another triple black 67 L79 Chevelle. Dad has the same car, documented with the protecto plate. It's not numbers matching (it was a race car in the 70's) But it has been restored to its original colors.
The unfortunate thing for us is that the original owner is deceased and his widow wasn't around when he had it. I have talked to the other owners but they don't have any of the original pictures. Dads car had sidepipes installed by the dealer when it was new. I left the brackets welded to the frame when I redid it. It didn't seem right to remove what was left. I did grind off the remnants of the old tow bar it had. I kind of regret that now. ![]() |

I also left the old bar style traction bars that were installed at some point in the 70's. The SS hood is going to be replaced with a stinger hood one of these days.
No it's not a real Nickey car. Dad is from Chicago and frequently would stop in at Nickey. He had all the paperwork signed to buy a white 68 427 Nickey Camaro. My grandpa killed the deal when he found out dad was street racing his 67 SS Camaro. Sometimes it's good to have police for friends. Unless they are your dads friends and they rat you out for racing. oops |

This isn't Scotts car. This one is my dads but it sounds like they are twins. Scott, I'd love to see some pics of your car.

Thanks for the compliment, he is really happy with it. The stinger hood will be the finishing touch. It was great redoing it for him. I'm dying to see Scotts car. I have been told black is a rare color so to hear of another triple black L79 is really neat.

I used to work at a gas station in Chicago in 69 an I remember a customer coming in with a 300 post L-79 blk blk radio delete with dog dish. It had headers and there were guages hanging from the dash in front of the radio delete. Does anyone know of or remember this car?
