First: Cool car! I wouldn't be too concerned about the buggered stamp...probably just a bad day on the line....since the date matches the POP you are ok. Those axle stamps run the full spectrum from perfectly clear to so faint you can hardly see them. I have even seen stamps that were almost on the top of the tube..lots of variations on the same theme. Did you by chance check the casting no. on the housing and date?? Might help to ease your mind... What are your plans now for the car??? That interior color is really different..you don't see that everyday on an L78 car!

Tom,
Plan is to restore this car back to as original as possible. That includes the original black cherry paint and SS hood. I will get this info on the rear housing casting & date and post that as well. Thanks for you continued help. ![]() Steve
