I have no pictures but it was a 49 Chevey sedan Deluxe! My Dad gave $50.00 for it from Uncle Buddys Used Cars on North Main St Houston Texas. It was faded red but ran like a singer sewing machine,That jewel stayed in our family for 5 years without a dimes worth of trouble.Only thing ever replaced was tires and battery. Those were the good old days, regular 19.9 per gallon, flat's fixed for 50 cents, hamburger and a coke for 50 cents. We even had a local hang out called Prices Burgers where you could get 5burgers for a $1.00,man talk abou tgetting full! LOL

------I know someone will do better but at this moment I seem to win the oldest 1st car award. My long suffering Mom bought a neighbors 38 Chev 2dr.cpe. for $75.00. It was actually in pretty good shape until I tried to back it out of my grandfathers garage and hit the wall. Oh!!! I was 13 and didnt have a beer-gut yet!!!..........Bill S

Bill, That's funny and reminds me of the first time I drove a car. I was 13 also...and it was in Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin
at my best friends grandma's farm... She had a huge corn field...and a 1968 Caprice siiting in the barn (this was 1972). She told us to "go have fun" and "not to tell". Like she said "what could we possibly hit...except the corn stalks". God that was fun...and we never told anyone until now...

In all places but Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Hillside Il. It was my first time behind the wheel. Perfect place for a crash huh? ![]()

That's funny and reminds me of the first time I drove a car. I was 13 also... [/ QUOTE ] Wow, you guys started driving late in life! I actually drove a car alone for the first time at age eight! My Dad worked for an implement dealer and needed to pick up a farm truck to take in for some service. I went with him to the farmer's house; he drove the truck back and I drove our '51 Chevy home. My Mom almost killed him when she found out! ![]() As for the first car.... it was a '57 BelAir Hardtop/283 "PowerPack", 3 speed. Still Have It! ![]() When I bought it, the original 4 barrel was gone and it had a two barrel on it. Wasn't that way long as I replaced it with a 780 Holley and a '65 L79 intake. (She never starved for fuel! ) The previous owner, who I knew, had run dual AFB's, but took them off when he sold it. It now sits ready to accept a fresh LT-1 with correct appearing Dual WCFB's. ![]() I'm the second owner, and the original owner called me a couple of years ago asking about buying it back. I think I'll just hang on to it. ![]()
