GREAT thread, Andy! I'll try and dig up some pictures of my first car, which was a truck...I think we gave $100 for it...'63, 2wd, step-side...thing had been a farm truck since birth, had a blue cab and a green box/bed, and looked like someone had beat it with a mallet all over...I threw about 5 pounds of Bondo and a couple gallons of red paint at it, and thought I was in tall cotton! The tall rear gears and truck 4-speed took it's toll on the 283, so I put in a 305...

You guys are all too young!!! All those cars are too "new". You'd never believe what my first car was in '66 when I was 15......
I paid $15. for it, running and driving, nice shape....

I have no pictures but it was a 49 Chevey sedan Deluxe! My Dad gave $50.00 for it from Uncle Buddys Used Cars on North Main St Houston Texas. It was faded red but ran like a singer sewing machine,That jewel stayed in our family for 5 years without a dimes worth of trouble.Only thing ever replaced was tires and battery. Those were the good old days, regular 19.9 per gallon, flat's fixed for 50 cents, hamburger and a coke for 50 cents. We even had a local hang out called Prices Burgers where you could get 5burgers for a $1.00,man talk abou tgetting full! LOL

------I know someone will do better but at this moment I seem to win the oldest 1st car award. My long suffering Mom bought a neighbors 38 Chev 2dr.cpe. for $75.00. It was actually in pretty good shape until I tried to back it out of my grandfathers garage and hit the wall. Oh!!! I was 13 and didnt have a beer-gut yet!!!..........Bill S

Mine was in '72, and was close to yours.
My dad bought me a '63 Impala SS 'vert 283/auto for a buck! My uncle was going to trade it in, but my father talked him into transferring the title to me for one-dollar.

I roasted the trans, so it sat for a year. Then, my mother had it junked!!!

Wish I had a photo, but more so...wish I had the CAR!

My first Car was a 1963 Impala SS. Car was a 409 340hp with a powerglide. My Buddy that Owned it was Building a Thames wagon with an Injected Small Block and needed to sell the Imp to finance the Thames. This was Oct of 76. His Dad was A Sergeant with the Seattle Police Department,he sold me the Car for $225. I had that Car excactly half hour before Breaking the Rear end doing a Block Long Burnout. The nice thing about Jeffs dad being a Cop, all the Cops knew the Car so they would not bother me. Heck they even helped me get it home when I broke the rear end.
