Paul, go to www.kelseytire.com, click on "Performance Series", the part number you want is 114-481-040. I got a set from them a couple of years ago for my 69 Velle SS.

Here's a shot of my Z11 with the correct Wide Treads I got from Kelsey Tires. When you receive them, make sure you check the tires closely for damage or defects. I had to send two tires back because the were "shaved" too close to the side wall and the white letters looked way too thick. I also had to send one tire back because it had razor cuts in the sidewall from the person who wrapped them and then cut the wrapping while it was against the sidewall of the tire. Kelsey was very helpful and sent out new tires, but I had to front the money for them. They did refund what I paid for the defective/damaged ones and paid for shipping out of their pocket:

Was a G70-15 custom wide tread available as optional tires, and if so what cars did they come on?
One more question, what cars came with the H-70-15 polyglas? Corresponding with a guy that has a complete set of each NOS. Thanks

I don't know of anything that came with G70-15s or H70-15s from the factory... both were a pretty big tire for a factory application... G-70-14's were optional on el Camino SS (maybe Chevelle too?) in 69.

The GTO's and 442's had the G70-14's pretty much as standard equipment. Agree with Joe on the G70-15's and H70-15's, strictly "tire dealer" offerings as far as I know.

Steve, Do the reproduction WTs have the size (F70-14) on the wall after WIDETREAD?
I have picked up a display-spare WT-GT from a board memeber here for use in my 69. Of course would be nice if it was correctly reporduced. A lot of SS with POLYGLAS out there. They all ride like junk, but look so right on the cars. ![]() Jim

Very good info. Are the Firestone Wide Oval repro tires also correct for the 69 Camaro SS. I anyone knows, how do they ride and handle compared to the Goodyear Wide Tread in a F70-14 size. Thanks,
Paul

No the repro Wide Ovals are not correct for a 69 Camaro either... the only repro F70 14 that is currently offered that would be acceptable for your car is an F70-14 wide tread Goodyear. All the repro bias ply tires drive and ride about the same... alot of guys cry about them and claim them to be impossible to drive on etc... but I have had them on lots of stuff for years, with 1000's of miles logged and really don't have any problems with them..besides, radials look terrible on 60's cars

Here's a close up of the repro Wide Tread. I believe the correct tire for early 1969 was the "Wide Tread" and not the later "Wide Tread GT." And, yes they do right kinda rough. The car rolls much nicer on the new Firestone Indy 500 radials that I have mounted on an extra set of rims.

Steve, your tires look great, I have a few spots on mine, but at least they drive straight down the road, my other tires tracked the cracks in the road, I was all over the place, The new tires are doing great for handling , I don't get stop by the cops as often.....Kasey
