Just got back from E-town.....
....and WOW!! Wayne Nelson flat SHOCKED everyone with his 10.59 run in his 1969 L-88 Corvette clone that started out with a fantastic 1.61 sec. 60'. Congrats Wayne!! The day was a near perfect day for drag racing. It started out at about 30 degrees at 8am and then got up to a sunny 50. Cold air and a sun warmed track helped everyone run well. Terry Pennington got his first 10 second run (10.959) in his 1969 ZL-1 Camaro clone with help from a great biting track and air that was anywhere between 1700' below sea level to a high of 500' above. Talk about mine shaft air, unbelivable! A couple of friends from up north came down with their factory stock cars. Chicken farmer Peter Simpson ran a best of 11.74 with his 69 ZL-1 Camaro, and superb body man Jim Johnston shifted his silver 4-speed 1969 L-88 Corvette to an 11.58 et. Lots of first time F.A.S.T. participants showed up and a few of the small block Mopar guys were showing their big block brothers the quick way to the other end. Lots of interested spectators showed for this years one day event and there are rumours that Gonzo will put on a two day end of the year event for 2006 Englishtown. Here's too ya Bill for a great event ![]() |
