Alan Colvin in his book, "By The Numbers" states that there a handful of L72 put into the Z24/4D cars, BUT it has never been documented or have any ever showed up. Possible a COPO order? Still a mystery.

I've heard about 17 alleadged L72 1967 "fat cars" but have never seen proof. If they did exist what would they use for a tach? There is only two tachs available for a 67(5500redline for a L36/427 and 5000redline for everything else 396 and smallblocks). Also IF they were COPO's where in the GM inventory would they get a L72.The COPO system as far as I know used "existing" parts in its inventory and routed them to assembly plants not normally used as rpo's and necessary assembly components(unless they mismatched 427/435hp and 396/375hp components together?)This is a mindbender as the L72 was avaiable in 66 and 68 but not in ANYTHING in 1967.My head hurts, where's my meds?

Steve, Ths Gold SS427 was from your side of the border. BOY....GM Vintages Services is terrific when it comes to cars from St Therese or Oshawa, where mine was built. And VIN# verification in Canada??? Another thing you guyz do right besides hockey , healthcare and pharmiceuticals! They even verified built date (same as the FUNKY COWL TAGS CanadaGM used) and shipping date. 3/20/67 & 3/28/67 respectively! And they did things differently too! I even have a even heater in the big block, rpo K05; like we needed them here in the State!
Pretty cool....ehhhh? (said like a hockey player!) ![]()

Ehh,Ocasonally we do something right.I take it "you all"are talking about a block heater for car owners waaay up north.GM vintage services is for ALL cars sold in Canada not just cars built here. It's a godsend for separating the bogus cars from the real things. The reason it exists is unlike the American system ALL cars were processed through Oshawa Ontario thus creating a single database in ONE location.I don't know how far it goes back but I've heard of guys with late 50s that got a print out on their car.If you ordered a 1969 camaro(CALGARY) the dealership then contacted(Telex I think)Oshawa who in turn contacted its assigned assembly plant(in the case of camaros it would be Norwood Ohio,ALL Canadian cars came from Norwood). If it was for a fat car it would most likely be Oshawa. In the states when you ordered a car the dealership would look up its assigned assembly plant and telex them directly. If you were in say Denver it would be Van Nuys, if you were in Albany NY it would be Norwood(except COPOs).Thus all the original records are "fractured" and not from a central location.I doubt they will ever be "assembled together" as this would be a monumental task.If they did a lot of owners would be devestated suddenly finding out their coveted musclecar is not what it appears to be.Anyway I saw the picture of your car and SHAAAWWWINGG.67s have always been my favorate and while a 1967 SS427 is the ultumate they are out of my price range.A customer of mine has a red/red/black A/C 4 speed car he bought locally, but he hasn't worked on it in years.I'd love to buy it.Another customer has a 67 SS427 Royal Plum 4 speed car he's doing a ground up on(calif.car).I myself am doing a 67 427 Caprice.Love that roofline. You must have noticed the differances between US and CDN cars(body colored firewall and body colored trunk no spatter paint)I'd like to see more pic's. Anyway "you all" have a nice day.Steve
