That is pretty cool. They did a nice job on the '69 tooling.

Wanna see something really scary? Does anyone here have one of the Revell 'Creative Masters' yellow Z-28 prototypes from '89? I saw one of these go for over $2K on ebay in 1999.

The original Creative Masters die-cast cars ( Z/28 in this
example ) were unparalleled for detail & quality. Nobody
did die-cast like those guys. Sadly, that company went out
of business. I believe Revell bought the rights to the
tooling, but I may be wrong on that. I was in one of those
bidding wars on a 69 CM Z/28 die-cast on eBay in the past.
Wish I had stayed in it ! They are like hens teeth now.

Wonder if someone would trade me my 69 CX coded THM400 for
a Creative Masters '69 Z/28. What am I saying?

Steve

With a black grille? Seems to be the 'wrong' detail.

That must be a picture of the prototype because I have 3 Creative Master '69 Z's (2 Hugger Orange & 1 LeMans Blue)and all three have silver grilles.

The detail on these is awesome, especially with the real metal emblems.

For all you 2nd. Gen fans,Franklin Mint is coming out with a '70 1/2 Z/28 in various colors ($69) and it is due to ship in December.I have pre-ordered mine in Hugger Orange of course from Supercar Collectables.

Once again I have miss-spoke and must correct myself:

I came home this evening and checked my CM '69 Z's and low and behold: They all have black grilles.

I originally posted from work based on what I thought must be correct-a silver grille on a '69 Z/28.

Now I apoligize for that mistake....

Wow, they really nailed it, especially with those "Atlas" wheels and tall 70s. I'm putting one of these on my Christmas list.

The detail and proportions look really good. Makes Ertl's 69 Camaro look like it was whittled out of a bar of soap. Just one question...where are the Wide Tread GTs?

Atlas wheels on an X-66 car along with a black grille...lots of errors. The detail might be outstanding but they didn't do their homework, IMO.
