I cant think of another person that has been more involved with restoring misc Camaros than BKH and the SCW.
Wish someone would communicate with him as to WHAT brand or product they or their painter uses......
But then again maybe as with the spatter paint topic that is pripority info........

I wouldn't think the paint he uses is proprietary

BKH's painter is Frank Arone, who uses PPG. There are no perfect matches, you have to scan the color in.

Your concerns to get the color right are well founded. Some colors are more troublesome than others and no one mfg has his "crossover formulas" all correct today. I went thru holy hell getting 67 Marina Blue dead on last year and had two orig paint cars plus hidden area paint samples to compare. I got it, but thru a custom mix modification to a PPG formula that was not right. On the other hand, just did a 67 Corvette Marlboro Maroon and PPG was amazingly right on as mixed, and a color that very often looks wrong and frustrated us in the past. As for Daytona Yellow, I may have saved you some legwork. I am doing my COPO Chevelle and have found Sikkens has this one nailed. Be careful with others as Daytona can easily take on a "greenish" direction we have all seen over the years on repaints. Daytona Yellow is a dynamite color when right on but looks like hell if off a little. Talk to me if you need more info or I could do a spray out panel and send it to you. I have lots of good area on my car to see original color and a 69 Corvette wiper door taken off a car long ago in perfect orig Daytona Yellow.

I can, Bob Harris and Camaro Specialties. Over 20 years and counting.

PPG and Sherwin-Williams automotive finishes. I myself like PPG.

I was just watching Dream Car Garage and Peter Klute mentioned that BASF (Glasurit) has all of the big three's paint codes converted to base coat / clear and the formulas are available on CD.
I have used Glasurit before and it is great to work with and is very durable.

The underneath may be a shade of black. I will remove some of the undercoating and check. Under the carpet is definitely a green color, darker than the Citrus green exterior. I will post some pics tomorrow.
