Yep, that was what we ran- notice how the Cobra only used 2 gears ! My "fresh" transmission has a bad 2nd/3rd gear slider or synchro (haven't looked yet) , didn't find out until I tried to power shift it. So, to compensate, I'd leave the line at 1500 rpm in 2nd (to save the clutch), run her to 6600, force/grind/beat it into 3rd, and through the traps at 6600 rpm!

My best run was a 12.02 @ 116 - not bad for a stock 427 (dyno'ed at 447 hp at the flywheel) using 2 gears, on vinatage bias ply tires, in that heat ! I had a lot of fun, hadn't drag raced in 17 years... kept waiting for some turns to make up for my lousy start! LOL

Next year, I am going to put a couple of turbos and drag radials on it so I can break into the high-11's. Might even put a 4 speed auto overdrive trans with a high-stall converter in it. No, wait, that stuff didn't seem to help Charley much

I'll let you guys know what it runs at Union Grove with a fixed tranny in some cooler weather soon. Just to clear my car's name.LOL

This car is perfect for me. Even a crappy drag racer like me can run 11's..Still 14's in the Shelby though.
