Our L78 has nothing but the CEXXXXXX number. Your explanation is about the only way the and MP or MQ engine without a VIN would end up in a car but I think that they would still need a CE number or something to identify the engine for continued warranty purposes. Curious.

Chevelleless after 46 years......but we did find a low mileage, six speed, silver 2005 Corvette. It will just have to do for now.
