Both were painted by Kevin Westmoreland in GA. He is a great painter.

The aluminum was as straight as steel....pretty scary to have a car like that sitting out in the open with people walking all around it..I heard a good guy got it and also has the Sanders car that the motor in the red one was out of !!!

Correct, the motor in that one was from the Sanders car. Hard to believe, but that paint on the Z-11 is nothing more than Centari enamel.

Roger Sortino (WA) owns the Sanders car. I know he was planning to bid on that one to get the engine and make a swap. Rusty had bought the red car minus engine long ago, and by luck found the Sanders engine in a boat. Once those cars became uncompetitive ('64 when the factory backed Mopars and Fords creamed everything else), a lot of Z-11s got small blocks, had the aluminum removed and went back on the streets. Some engines were reused in boats, Chevelles, ect. Some remained with the original cars, but ran Modified Production, like the Strickler car before Bill bought it back.
Very, very few of those cars retain their original engines. And I suppose some that do got decked at some point and the numbers are gone anyway.
