I just picked up a Chevy Power Milestones magazine at the newsstands and it included a price guide for Chev. Muscle car guide, 1961 to 1971.
197o Z-28 # 1 car is priced at 40K and at the bpttom of the scale a # 5 car is priced at 13K It says to add 10% or RS option. It also makes it very clear this is a price guide only. This report was presented by Corvettes & Chevy Trader. Regards, Kurt |

Kurt,
So, a number 1 car, absolutely perfect and original museum quality not driven is 40k? whats it say for a #2 car? So far to me it looks as if 28-33k seems to be correct. Mark.

I can absolutely assure you that a 1970 Camaro in the above condition, such as Phil Borris's 70 COPO that will be ON DISPLAY NEXT SATURDAY at SCR8 could be sold for much, much more than $40K......but WONT be for sale anytime soon !!!!! Chuck Sharin

Mark, this might be 1 to keep an eye on for reference. 70 Z/28 [/ QUOTE ] "This car is so original it still has the G60 tires on it" Except it has the wrong tires in the wrong size on it!!! That makes me wonder about the rest of the claims about the car.

Phil has turned down offers of over 6 digits for his Hugger Orange 70 Z/28, So I can assure you a #1 70-1 Z/28
will do well over 40K. Two years ago a real Nice # match 70-71 Z/28 brought about $15- 20,000. I walked away from a few I am now kicking myself about... ![]() ![]()

Here's another for reference. This has been kicking around on ebay for a few weeks and the price keeps dropping:

I walked away from a few I am now kicking myself about... ![]() ![]() [/ QUOTE ] First off let me say that I think Phil's car is one of the finest 1970 Z/28's out there. And probably THE standard to use for referencing. With that said just what more then the "COPO" 3 piece spoiler makes it anymore valuable then say the same car built the same day but with a shorty spoiler and restored to that same level? If I read your statement correctly using your figures for the two number 1 cars, you're telling me that the 3 piece spoiler adds close to $60,000 to the value?? I am going to respectfully disagree. Again, I am not picking on Phil's car I am merely using it as an example only because you brought it up. My 06B Z/28 restoration project has the deck lid and quarters drilled for the 3 piece spoiler. Seeing that the 3 piece spoiler option was available after April of 1970 I could theoreticly consider my car a COPO as well. Could I not? Yeah I know, documentation, documentation, documentation. Great topic. Rick H. |

Not sure at what level of reference you would use this car. Middle of the road I guess. Rick H. |
