Having looked at 25-30 70Z's for over a year here's my observations. 1.A super nice, done right, 70 will cost you 45K-50k+ assuming you can find one. And if you do find one of these you better buy it on the spot or someone else will get it before you. 2. Anything restored even if restored poorly will get 40K. 3. Restored but missing correct engine 30-35k. 4. The hardest part about buying a 70Z is finding a nice one. I was getting to the point of giving up I was so frustrated..seriously. I'd say list it on E-Bay with a nice presentation and let the process do the rest. Good Luck! [/ QUOTE ] Hmmm so what would you think a 1970 Z/28 with solid body and complete interior but missing the motor and tranny would be worth? Car is solid but needs restoring. In your opinion. I am being serious and find this topic interesting. Rick H. |

After a while I realized that was going to be next to impossible at any price so I started looking for something that was pretty close but might need minor work. Thats why I damn near cried when I missed Jack's car the 1st time and why I was bound and determined not to miss it twice From what I've seen though, if you mean NO motor/trans then probably dirt cheap. Like under 10K. Maybe way under? If you mean wrong motor/trans then obviously more. I know one thing. Finding a car like that isn't hard. Obviously people haven't been restoring 70's the way they have 69's. At least not yet.

A year ago I bid on a 1970 Z28 project. It was all original (motor, trans, rear) but needed some new metal. 2 rear quarters and a deck lid. Had p-o-p and owner history and maybe some build sheets yet to be found. Cool color combo, Camaro Gold on black (no console M-21) with black stripes. Dash wood grain, custom seats, custom seat belts too, am/fm, p/s, p/b, remote mirror. I stopped bidding after $8,500. The car needed everything even the smog equit. After I priced out a lot of parts (with the help of you guys) I figured I was digging too deep. Whopps!
Place that car in 2005... How much does it go for? High teens? Low twenties?

Heres a scenario.
Car decent shape no motor no tranny 6k correct (nom) engine and access. 8k correct trans. and access. 1k paint and body 8k chrome and trim 3k interior 2k I'm already at 28k on this list, and there is way more that would have to be added ie:,suspension, brakes, fuel, electrical, weatherstrip ping, assembly labor... I know my carb cost me 600.00,a correct functioning diverter valve 440.00, torque convertor 450.00.. etc etc.
