I'm not an Olds man,but that's a 1968 Oldsmobile VIN derivative,built in Lansing,Michigan-38M232801
Try finding the car/owner today using the last 6 digits in a search.
It may buy you a new replacement trans..

Don't change anything. Don't mess it up. You already know it is not correct for your application so why change anything. Just put it together and use it! JMO Sam
