The hood on the car which is a cowl, (original),does have a 12 bolt . He thinks the car came out of
Detroit between Oct. 15th to Oct 30th of 1968. The car is rally green with black interior, bucket seats, console in the floor, the steering wheel is wood, and the console where the shifter is wood too. The car is a 4-speed. Thanks for everyone's help on this. Brad

Too early for a COPO. Does the M22 have the partial VIN stamped in it and does it match the car's VIN? If the car was an X11 or X44 code with a matching VIN M22 then it would be a COPO since that is the only solid lifter engine that would be put in the car. If the M22 is original, it sounds like it could be a Z28 but the cowl hood is probably not original to the car, that's too early for the cowl hood option.

It could be an M20 or M21 but that wouldn't be any proof of a COPO. The M22 would prove it's either a Z28, L78 396 or COPO. If his M22 matches, it could be a Z28 or L78 car.

[/ QUOTE ] So what you are saying is if the car has an M22 and the partial VIN matches then it's a possible Z/28, L78 or COPO? I disagree. Just having an M22 doesn't prove anything. You could get an M20 or an M21 with any of those cars. It takes more to prove these cars then just having a tranny match the VIN. His VIN is to early for any COPO or Yenko so you can rule out those.
