Then it's possible the shots were taken at White Hall. Meredosia is located between Beardstown and White Hall, closer to Brdstn. Lonnie and Jim Dawson were regulars at both strips. In the late '60's/early '70's Jim drove a 427 '69 Camaro sponsored by the "Rod 'n Gun Tavern" in Beardstown. If I remember correctly they ran a used car lot in Meredosia. I think they even had a flatbed hauler like the one in the background. I need to pick some brains locally.

Wel, back in those days there were a few in the area. White Hall, Beardstown, Alton etc.
I grew up in Jerseyville and go to the Jacksonville cruises almost every year. I am familiar with White Hall, Roodhouse. I recall being in a garage in Roodhouse on the West side of the tracks and he had a front clip of a 69 camaro hanging in it |

Sam, I wasn't smart enough to know I was watching history being made!! It was just another weekend at the track having fun. Heck I was At E-Town in 91,92 or 93 when Kenny B Broke the 300 mph barrier. Standing with a camera didn't take a picture then. I was also at Topeka when Chuck E broke the 300 in Funny car, again no picture. DUH
