[ QUOTE ] But... where is the CAUTION - FAN sticker? [/ QUOTE ] Never came on a 70 Z28. [/ QUOTE ] I believe this was in reference to all the restored cars getting the FORD caution sticker on them..

![]() Am a bit out of my territory, but doesn't the '70 Z have a holley 780 cfm carburetor? Therefore, wouldn't the last letter on line 1 of the POP (if read frontwards) be an "H" not a "B"? Standing by to be educated..... ![]() Sam

Standing by to be educated..... ![]() Sam [/ QUOTE ] Sam, Your correct. It should be a H. The 70 Z came with a 780 CFM Holley. But: Carburetor type: (H=Holley, R=Rochester,C=Carter, B=Bay City). Don't know what Bay City is. There was no Hurst option. The shifter was a Hurst. I have a 1970 Order Guide and it shows these options only. http://ca.geocities.com/[email protected]/options.htm For a non console car the shifter ball is a 2 piece knob. Top is black with a white shift pattern and chrome bottom. For a console car the knob was chrome with no shift pattern. The shift pattern was on the console. ![]() ![]() The shifter plate on the carpet should be black, not chrome.

Kind of a "tweener"......keep it as is or probably spend some serious bucks to get it up to a very nice driver status. Shouldn't the front grill be all black in color? Was there such a thing as a "Hurst package" as noted in the ad? How would that appear on a buildsheet? Is that the correct shifter & knob?
Anyone know what the white (black vinyl top) 70Z went for at the recent Mecum auction in IL? |

Shouldnt the trim tag say Z28? or was that just Norwood cars?

Shouldnt the trim tag say Z28? or was that just Norwood cars? [/ QUOTE ] Just Norwood Z's and the grille question. The plastic that's square will only be black. The trim is chrome. The same goes for a non RS grille. The original grilles were black plastic all the way through. If you broke a piece off, you would see black and not silver. All grilles ordered from GM parts came silver and would need to be painted black for the Z28. ![]()

I'm learning here as well.....back to the carburetor, in looking at the add'l pix with this ad it shows a closeup of the carb and the numbers seem to be correct for a 780 cfm for that year/model/engine/trans. Are we sure about the protecto plate interpretation.....maybe the dealer simply put the wrong cfm wording in the ad?
COPO427 - should the vertical piece in the center of the grill be the same color as the car? |

COPO427 - should the vertical piece in the center of the grill be the same color as the car? [/ QUOTE ] 70 Z's were all 780 cfm secondary vacuum carbs. No double pumpers were used on the 70 Z28's. The list and part #'s are correct for a 4-spd 70 Z28. The ad is incorrect on the 850 DP. The centre of the grille should be body coloured. See this pic I took at a Camaro show. It's an original owner, original paint low mi 70 Z28. And before it's asked, the front spoiler wasn't available until 1971. ![]() ![]()
