Z11 Pace Car production began on 02D, the fourth week of Feb 1969, at the Norwood, Ohio Assembly Plant. My car, VIN 610XXX was a factory display car and was built on 02D and shipped from the Norwood plant on 03/11/1969. Dealers were told of the existance of the Z11 package in mid-January 1969.
There were a number of Z11s sent to Canada. I recall looking at a 396 automatic Z11 in 2001 in Canada that had its GM of Canada documentation. I didnt buy it because it was a horrible restoration: they actually welded new quarters on top of the old ones - just horrible I drove 16 hours with a trailer, took one look for about 15 seconds and turned around and drove back home, another 16 hours. I was not a happy camper at the time. |

I wish I had a buck for every one of those trips. ![]()

First one I know about is 02D VIN N607547, which is prior to the two real pacecars. This is what it looked like about a year ago.

I am trying to get my hands on the Original USCC REGISTRY. Maybe I can get with Kurt and add his to it. We had a few hundred cars, and the numbers we posted were total speculation, derived from the 10% sampling we had.
Hopefully the original registry is not destroyed. |
