I can picture the seller sitting at his computer as the final bid came in.
His face stone still, eyes wide as saucers, heart rate jumping to over 120, jaw dropped and firmly planted to his chest. His mind thinking "you f!@#$% kidding me, 6 grand for an aircleaner?" Oh wait, that was me! Unbelieveable! Rick H.

Looks like buying the car is only half of the problem. The price of parts is crazy. Luckly my car has 90% of the original parts.

I am curious, Was it a 70 Camaro SS/L78 or a LS6 Chevelle owner that paid 6 Grand for
an Air Cleaner Assembly just due to the fact that it is an NOS piece.  When I restore mine it will probably look better then that one…. I wonder if he will sell me the box for a few hundred bucks

Hidden ID's make it easy to drop $6,000+ on an air cleaner and not have to be criticized for it on every musclecar forum. Now the buyer can say, "No, my dual-snorkel isn't the one that sold on eBay for six grand. Can you believe that someone paid that much for one?"

Two LS-6 Chevelles, Identical, sitting next to each other for sale, one is 7 grand more than the other but it has a real air cleaner assembly on it, which one would you buy?
 I would personally find it hard to flip out an extra 7 grand for this one piece. I think some would spring for it though...these are crazy times.
