Here is my 1970 426 Hemi Charger R/T-SE back when I first saw it in Jersey with 12,000 miles on the clock in 1987. It had been sitting since 1973 in this form. Fat and skinny Cragers, Parnelli Jones L60x15 rubber in the back and discount E70x15 fronts. A real day2 dinosaur.

You're right. The second owner had no idea how rare the car was (one of four produced) and was preparing to cut it up to be a race car. Luckily he and his buddies were drunk when they assembled the engine (and installed one of the pistons backwards on the rods). The engine broke a valve on start up and shoved it throught the piston and cracked a cylinder head. He then got pissed and rolled the car into storage until selling it to owner #3 who moved it to the spot you see in the photo. I bought it from him in '87. It hadnt rolled a tire "in anger" since late 1973. It has 16,000 miles on it now and has run a best of 12.77 @ 111 mph in street trim.

here's the link to the full story...

Anybody remember these? The best sounding header mufflers ever. Wish I could find a set or three.

Cyclone made them. They later came out with a "Junior" model that just wasn't the same.
