The former owner told me the man got it for his wifes birthday she drove it to the store and told him ill never drive it again. So he went and bought her a biscayne. the grandson remembers going around the block in it every so often.

Three possible air cleaners were available on the 1970 Chevelle Super Sport from all 7 plants.
In Box #55 of Buildsheet:
*SS-Open Element
*DG-Cowl Ind. Seal
*CO-Dual Snorkle

I talked to Tony P. 12 months ago when he had it for Sale on Ebay & remember when it was at Russo-Steele at Az. in January w/25.2 miles.
He told me the Original owner removed the A.I.R. system soon after taking delivery.Brought it home for his wife, she drove it around the block a few times, then parked it.She just hated it.Remorseful, they let it sit before selling it to another, who saw it as a Future collectible, while in storage,he was offered big money back then to sell it to another who saw it as a collectors item too.
Tommy Brooks was the second owner,Rick Walters was the third.
When Tony Pate got it,the Drivers side door would not engage so they had to remove the doorpanel to free it up,& found another buildsheet behind the panel.
An original correct date coded A.I.R. system was recently put on.

Was the car undercoated at the dealer or factory? Looks like it was a dealer or owner spray job with it getting on the exhaust and everything. Very cool low mileage car that deserves to be in a museum.

That trunk is Text book!
The underneath hood overspray.

And I can't see a Red Key lock mark on the Ignition switch of this February 24th built car.
Those look like Dill 627's?

Rick,
In regards to the missing "Chevelle" emblem from the grille. The "SS" emblem is upside down also. Maybe the car suffered some minor damage at some point over the years.

What a beautiful, beautiful car. Of course, we know it can't be a real SS, according to the car show experts, with that column shift and bench seat! Almost (almost) makes me think my 12k and 18k cars are high mile.

Rick:
I think that hood overspray (underspray?) is the exception rather than rule. I'm not saying it's "wrong" (it can't be!), just unusual. I've never seen orig with that much, have you?

Lots of great details that are so often overlooked or wrong:
Upper A arm bushing washers are black, not cad.
Master cyl is black, not natural.
Trunk spatter paint is very random and is sloppy on hinges.

I can (and will) look at these photos for hours.

Lets hope not every 70 Chevelle gets restored the way this one appears now...you can't take one mass produced car and put all the same mistakes or details on them.
