I'll do my best but it may take a week or two. I do have a supplier that I get Dill from but the company is being purchased by the employes so things my take a little longer.

Go down to your local tire shop... I'll bet they have a can with 50 of 'em in it at any given time, and will just about give them to you. I've never had too much trouble finding them around here.

No substitutes! Really, there are a couple of caps that have the raised dimple on top and look kind of close, but it MUST be a Dill 627. Just about anything crosses over, after all, they all fit on the stem.
Rick: On a releated note - do you have info on the valve extension as used on the 70 SS Chevelle? Part numbers are easy enough to find, but what are lengths? My 12k mile car has - probably - the orig extensions on it. Dave |

I have a friend who supplied GM with some oddball fasteners, light hardware, etc in the 70's & 80's. Says he knows exactly what Dill 627's are and has some (like boxes of 100) if he can find them. I have been thru his stuff long ago, nothing interesting, but I was not up on these caps. I'll keep you guys posted. I did find 7 of em in our can at the tire machine out of the 500 I looked at. I have to go now............my employees have called in some guys in white suits get me some help.

It was used Originally in 1964-75 on ALL Chevrolet cars including the SS Chevelle. The reproduction tire stores today use a Stem that is 2&1/4 inches long. Way to long compared to the originals. |
