ALL 1967-68-69 Camaros w/dual exhaust used Muffler #3961396,but not the Chambered Ex. System.
1968 Z28 solely used #3910566. |

I am a bit confused (not unusual trust me). If they "all" used the 3961396 then how did the 68 Z use 3910566? Are you saying all except the 68 Z used 3961396?
What does 3981951 fit, if you happen to know? Thanks. Lynn |

All 1967-69 Camaros w/dual & w/o Chambered used muffler #3961396.
The 1968 Z-28 Camaro used #3910566 as did any other 1968 Camaro w/Chambered Exhaust. This is a Chambered Ex. Muffler. Muffler #3981951 replaced the #3961396 later on as a Service replacement in the mid 1970's.I believe 1975? |

I edited my earlier response to answer your later question.
That number is a later service replacement for the same applications. I sent you a private message too. |

Thanks. Sorry I did not see the edit.
I have one of the 3981951 mufflers dated 9 23 70. Date and part number is on the box. No part number on the muffler, although there are some numbers stamped on one of the outlet pipes. Anyone know the difference between the 3961396 and the 3981951 muffler. I know when there is a part number change there is usually some change to the part. Thanks again for any help. Lynn |
