Glides are good for dragracing if built right! and for going back original! Other than that I would go with something else.I prefer the TH 400,I used to have a 55 chevy with a TH 400 nad a built 350 engine and that had to be the best trans that I ever owned as far as automatics go.I use to drop it in low and wind that baby up and let it shift by itself into second, and it would scratch the tires really well along with snapping your neck back.Had it for 14 years and all I ever did was put new seals in front and rear once!

Yeah I can attest to the TH400.. I had a '79 Jeep Wagoneer years ago with a strong 360/TH400.. the clutches in the trans went out so I rebuilt it completely myself and did all kind of little tricks to it along with installing a full competition shift kit.. basically it was everything a full drag race trans would be except for making it reverse manual shift..
It was awesome .. I destroyed 2 Quadratrack transfer cases with it It was the only Jeep Wagoneer around that would chirp all 4 tires on each shift.
