Tough looking Dart! Are those BF Goodrich "Belted" T/A's on it? I haven't seen those tires in a long time.
In the 1980's, my friend Larry had a 1969 340 Dart. It had a 727 tranny and a 8 3/4" rear with 3:91's. The car was extremely fast!

Yes they are T/A radials,I hate to say it but I believe the Dart will outrun my big block Chevelle!I haven't lined them up yet but I can see it coming.Only thing is I want to win but I don't let anyone else drive my chevelle hard but ME! So I will be driving the Chevelle and let my Soninlaw drive the Dart.Should be interesting.Maybe he will feel sorry for me.LOL

Bobby,
Many years ago, I ran my Chevelle against my friend's 340 Dart. That little Mopar stayed right on my rear bumper! Traction was a serious problem for both of us. This "action" photo is my car from the 1980's. Centerline rims and Pro Trac tires!

That is a cool looking Chevelle. My Chevelle is a 67 SS and I built a really nice performing engine for it,but the guy I bought the Dart from told me everything he could remember that was done to the 340 engine and it was a lot.It runs extremely well,I just ordered a new set of 3.55 gears today to replace the 4.56 in there now.I want to be able to cruise in it and the 4.56 are just way too much.I did notice that it has the 459 case 8 3/4 rearend which is the largest of the mopar 8 3/4, and BIG old mosier axles.the car has some really neat items,Has the sox and Martin adjustable pinion snubber, super stock springs, the seller told me there were some tricks done to the suspension to make it launch better.Along with all the tricks done to the engine I should have a ton of fun with it.

You're going to have a blast driving your "340 Dart". Imagine how the "Hemi Darts" performed!

Bobby,

Really neat car! Congrats on getting it. I had one many years ago, and I can tell you from experience that they are very quick

Here's a story about mine that I wrote & submitted for publication on the Dodge Dart web page about 10 years ago:

Bill
Funny that you posted that ,I have already ran across those stories and read them, very neat stories.Back in 1969 my best friend bought a green 69,340/4 barrell with auto on the column,it did have a thumb wheel radio.Well at the time I worked construction for Danny's fatherinlaw. On a Friday afternoon he drove Danny and I to Pasadena Texas to Pasadena Dodge.Danny told me you ain't gonna believe how this thing runs! Well he got the keys to his new car and off we went.As he pulled out of the dealership he stopped in front pulled it down in low gear and HAMMERED ON IT! It spun the tires about 10 feet then was gone, chirped second and when he put it in drive!I thought Holy Sh%^ this damn thing will fly.We used to go out every Saturday night racing that car.I never remember that car getting beat!He raced everything,383,440 6 packs, bigblock chevys and he outran all of them.Danny was going to sell the car and I wanted it very badly but had no money to buy it! So he traded it in on a new 70 Charger red with white interior for his wife. Some guy across town on the South Side bought the swinger and we never seen it again.I always wanted a 69 Dart 340 Swinger so here about a year ago I done a deal and got my first one, original blue paint, original white stripe around the back all original interior except for front seat.Well I was going to restore this car but then the Black one came up for sale,I bought it to be the Driver that I wanted. And now my soninlaw is going to be racing the blue swinger. We just about have it ready to go and will have some fun.My Soninlaw is more like my Son and my BestFriend.I am unable to do many things due to a bad heart attack back in 1995,he does everything that I am unable to do so I am rewarding him with the race car and funding his 55 Chevy truck project. He is a great guy and deserves to have some fun. When we were showing the Chevelle he chauffered me all over the place, worked on the car, detailed it,built the new shop and game room, does my yard work, you name it!I am blessed with the greatest soninlaw out there.I am going to enjoy watching him have fun with the car.

In high school i had a BB 70 Monte Carlo that i just loved, but i had a problem with the motor and could'nt afford to fix it so i swapped it for a 69 340 4 gear dart. It was an ex bracket racer, still had the sponser stickers primered over. It wasent much to look at but boy did it go. My car was the car to beat at my school and the local rival schools champion drove a 69 z-28. He would come and taunt us for a race and i would run home and get my dart (i drove a 4x4 chevy shortbox as my everydayer as the dart was unreliable). Sometimes he would win sometimes not, they were pretty evenly matched. Eventually he went on to become a NHRA rail driver. The dart was a fun car but it broke alot, still wish i would have had my monte back though.
