2 million would probably be paid.. But then it might be one of the stolen ones and would belong to the insurance co. While you were gone someone showed me paperwork and pics of a 68 COPO 427 Camaro convert that someone in Southern Ca. is trying to sell for big bucks.. You were also apparently chasing this car. The paperwork was one of the worst fake jobs I have ever seen. Beware of stuff that sounds too good to be true.

Charley,
If a car like that were to ever turn up you are correct the insurance co. would own it as they paid the claim. However, the rights and ownership could be purchased from the insurance co., and the statue of limitations would have expired from a criminal sense.

As vague as the insurance companies are on some of these cars values today,I seriously believe this Hypothetical Camaro would raise a Red Flag & they would research the value of a 38 mile 1969 ZL-1 Camaro, and charge accordingly, starting with the current market value.

There has been numerous cases where a precedence has been set concerning the very situation, one in particular is the famous "Ship Of Gold" found off the North Carolina coast. The individuals who located that ship were slapped with lawsuits by numerous Insurance companies claiming ownership to the entire contents, the Federal Courts ruled that the Insurance companies were entitled to the amount paid on the claim as well as a fair interest rate on the amount paid. In the legal arena that would be referred to as "Fruits Of The Posionous Tree" on the part of the insurance company.
