[ QUOTE ]
Seller states the left side exhaust pipe has scratches on it before GM "CHROMED" it. GM never chromed any exhaust system during 1969 nor in later years. More Ebay BS! Suckers.....step forward!!!! [/ QUOTE ] I'm not sure of the specific cut-off dates, but 69 Camaros could indeed come with chrome tailpipes during a portion of the production year. -JB

Were they chrome tailpipes or polished tips?

-------Camarojoe is correct as my brand new 68 396/350 had about a foot of the tailpipes chromed. It was a chambered exhaust car. I bought it off the dealer floor in early summer of 69 and dont know how long the car was at the dealership..........Bill S

I have a set of NOS tailpipes with GM stickers with the correct part numbers on them and they have chromed tips on them.

I have a pair of chambered exhaust hangers, that I'm trying to determine if they are NOS. They have no GM stickers or numbers on them, but have a W stamped on them. I was told the W was for Walker, but don't even know if Walker was involved with chambered exhaust.
Any help would be appreciated. |

Walker did sell chambered exhaust. They had chambered for oem replacement and for cars that didn't come with chambered. I still have some Walker chambered pipes for an Olds Starfire that hung from the ceiling of a parts store I worked for in 72. Walker did chrome some of their exhaust. Maybe only the display stuff though.

Chrome tail pipes were never included with chambered exhaust. The letter informing dealers that chrome tailpipes would be included with dual exhaust [May '69} also stated that chambered exhaust had been dropped as an option.
The ebay system is a mixture of incorrect parts. Original chambered systems used 1 welded rear muffler/tail pipe assembly [LH I think] with the RH rear muffler using a slip-in tail pipe. The other 2 mufflers are in the exhaust pipes. The system on ebay shows 2 RH rear mufflers and standard 2nd design chromed tail pipes. Once again, Barnum is right. He could have invented ebay.
