I don't think you could get the houndstooth interior in a conv other than the Pace Cars. This was obviously a small block car by looking at the heater core. $45K is a lot of money for a built car, but if that's what you're looking for then originality doesn't come into play so it gets tougher to put a number on the value. As we've said before, a car is worth what someone is willing to pay.

Wow, excellent observations, especially from the samll photo's. I can only imagine what you guys would find if you looked at the car in person. Great to know what to look for when buying and selling vintage cars, I have a lot more research to do on Camaro's.

Sure you could. I had a documented BB convt. with black houndstooth a few years ago. I have also seen 2 other non Z11 convt's documented with Houndstooth.

Maybe black comfortweave but not the black and white houndstooth. If you look at the GM order sheets, the boxes to check for houndstooth are blacked out. At least that is what the paperwork says and I have never seen one that is documented.

Jeff,
I just received GM documentation of a Canadian imported '69 Camaro 396/325 convertible, Daytona Yellow with white houndstooth interior. Seems that Canada did get converts with deluxe houndstooth interiors, definately rare though.

Cool. Any chance you could post a copy of that information. I've always heard you couldn't get the houndstooth in a conv. What's your trim tag show?

If you are going to spend a good amount of money on a car make sure it has value. You might not mind that it is a built car that is incorrect but when you go to sell it in the future you will be shocked at what it is worth. Take your time. Look, find out then make a decision. Someone on here has to have a nice BB 396 vert for ya!!!

.. just some food for thought

There is a constant flow of nice verts on e-bay. If matching numbers don't matter to you just keep checking e-bay and you should find what your looking for. There is a wide array of different stage camaros there. Also check hemmings, cars on line, and the auto trader collectors section there's lots there too.

There's a blurb in the Camaro White Book that makes it sound like there were no ragtops with houndstooth... I'd be very interested in seeing doc's that support it's use...
