As the rivet is being supported by the lower mandrel and not by the fiberglass, it prevents any damage to the surrounding fiberglass.

Looks good Steve! Hope to see the car at Jackson Outlets this year. You should see the repair work being done to my fiberglass crossram hood!
 They do some really good work and it comes out looking just like the factory did it.
