As always Vettefest was a great time. The SYC display was exceptional from Steve's 57 Chevy to the restored supercars and Rick's memorbilia display.
I didnt even get to see the whole show there always seemed to be someone else to talk to. This was the first time I was able to see Calebs work it was awesome. At the beginning VF used to be known for its great swap meet its a shame every year its less of a swap meet and more of a car show. I am sure the swap meet brought a lot of revenue to the show for a 10x10 spot even 15 years ago it was 90.00 and you really needed 2 of them. So I guess the revenue has to be made up somewhere. We could all thank Ebay for the diminishing swap meets. It was fun having Bill Wildt from Motorsport Unlimited tape a show on our group. If anyone would like a tape of the show let me know.

Had a very good time at vettfest and it was nice seeing the gang again. Johns right, ebay has killed swap meets alltogether as there is no more fun in going to them because it seems to be all the same stuff. Looking forward to barrett jackson in january.

The cost of feeding the McCormick Place monster has to be almost unbearable..I wonder if they have checked out Rosemont or other larger exhibition space here in the area. It probably wouldn't be Vettefest if it was moved. It's been there a long time now. Gold Spinner is known world wide....so are Silver and Bronze for that matter. I heard the Vette judging is really tough

Bel-Air,
I have given some thought to a suburban event. Vettefest started at Arlington Park but they won't do inside cars anymore. The Village of Schaumburg is building a convention center/hotel at Meacham and the tollway. Maybe a group of facilities guys could become venture capitalist's/promoters.Wasn't there a small concert planned in a cornfield in upstate NY when our cars were new? Hope all is well with you. |

One of my favorite cars at VF was the Nickey Sponsered Purple People Eater Corvette, being shown in memory of Chip Miller. A racing Corvette in Purple paint is a real attention getter, Sounded good as well.
![]() Bob, was interesting to watch the judges as they judged the cars at VF. With pens, pads and flashlights in hand, performing a thankless job. Besides mine, I watched them judge a couple of others, incluidng a Corvette. Very knowledgeable about what they were doing and did it in a very professional manner. My hats to all of them. ![]()
