I am still trying to figure out why Don ordered rear antenna on the Yenko Chevelles. [/ QUOTE ] Maybe just because it looked cool and was what Don was used to having on his Corvettes? ![]() |

Wasn't the rear, telescoping antenna standard with the AM radio, while the front, fixed mast antenna was for the AM/FM...

69 Chevelle rear antenna was an extra cost option on AM only not available on AM FM. Probably only cost Don a few dollars to add but Don was always trying to keep the price down so seems odd to add it. I am glad he did because it does look cool.

[/ QUOTE ] According to our "1969 Chevrolet Passenger Car Prices" guide, on a Chevelle equipped with an AM radio (as the Yenko Chevelles were) the rear antenna was only $9.50 while the front antenna was $61.10...as suspected, Don was just keepin' the cost down. |

Wait, something's not right... you mean it was optional to get a front antenna OR a rear antenna? Whats standard with an AM radio then, NO antenna? I bet that reception was good.

Who's on First Joe!
![]() Maybe the $61.10 was the Power telescoping antenna price? ![]() |

Was a radio even "standard" on a Chevelle? I've always heard the only options Yenko ordered on the '69s were AM radio, vinyl top, and power steering...maybe a radio, even a lowly AM, was indeed extra? And if ya get a radio, you gotta pay for an antenna...going through our dealer books and such, I can't find anything that says "standard" or "included" when dealing with radios...

don't have any books here but I believe AM radio was an option and the rear antenna was an option. $61.00 sounds like the price of the whole AM radio
