I understand the color thing! For the first 3 months that I owned my gobi beige Yenko, I seriously considered painting it fathom blue - one of my favorite colors. Obviously I went back to the beige, but for a few months I was set on that blue 
The main thing is that you enjoy the car when it's done - even a blast or two down the strip doesn't hurt
