It is my memory that Jimi "opened" for the Monkees, which did not go over all that well with the bubblegummers when he lit his guitar on fire.
I think '67 was when his first album was released "Are you Exerienced", and the band was known as the Jimi Hendrix Experience. I think the drummer's name was Mitchel (?).

Belair, you're only about the 3rd person in the world I've known who actually remembered SWLABER! I actually used to play that song in my high school band. (The Other Half)

It's a little known fact that Jimi was a member of the 101st.I actually live in Clarksville TN (home of Fort Campbell) and know the house on 9th Street that Jimi lived in whilst he was here.

The experience was Jimi,Redding,and Mitch Mitchell.He formed band of Gypsies with Cox and Buddy Miles(on drums) in summer 69-that group closed the Woodstock festival.Pretty cool time for chevys and R&amp;Roll
