Looks like a '70 to me now that we can see the bumper and the markers. Probably not an original SS since there is no engine designation on the fenders.

Probably not an original SS since there is no engine designation on the fenders. [/ QUOTE ]If that's the case, then they did manage to get the grille and headlight bezels painted correctly, which is more than I can say for alot of the restored SS Novas running around today. Maybe you just can't see the emblem holes in the horizon line on the dark car. No one ever noticed them on the prototype 6 cyl Deuce mockup used in the "Mini-Muscle Car" ad flyer either...but they were there. Take a look at the original 8x10"s at the SCR7. Just my opinion though, not getting into another "was it an SS or not" debacle. A cool Nova either way. Thanks for posting the pics. ![]() |

The car has obviously been repainted, (unless GM installed those giant rear wheel flares!) The emblem holes could have been filled at that time... Consider the fact the car was 5 years old when the article was written, a TON of stuff could have been done to it by then.

That looks like the Nova that was in a lot of Thrush muffler ads in the mid 70s.. if thats the case it's blue in color.. I'll try and dig one out and post a pic if I remember to.

This Nova was the same car from the Monroe shock ads circa 1975, not the Thrush ads. The only difference is it had an L-88 hood in the Monroe shock ad. The car was owned by an employee of B&M (the company the tranny article was about). Last year I talked with the guy who is quoted in the article, Tony (he now restores old B-25 airplanes) who was the manager of B&M at the time. The car was just a built up street machine, not a dealer car. Whereabouts of the car today is unkwown. Car had Ansen traction bars, Cragar slots up front.
Some of the giveaway characteristics of the car from the Monroe ad VS the Tech article, besides the flares are the later style 72-73 Nova bucket seats, Ansen traction bars, side mirrors were painted black, Cragar mags up front-they had a weird shape to them as you can see in the pics. Dave |
