Didn't he outbid Kevin S. for the "Lawman" Super Boss 429 at B-J 2003? I thought that was the story of him calling in from Japan?

Sounds like Goldberg is a "real" car guy from what people who seem to know him have to say, so if he's got the desire and the cocconuts to buy a Yenko, then I guess it's more power to him. It's not that I have a problem with people of wealth or status buying and owning these cars, it's the idea that Yenkos may so dramatically take off in popularity and status, that they'll cease to be an enthusiast's car. I guess being so near to Canonsburg, and having been fascinated with Yenko cars for more than half of my life, they've taken on somewhat of an aura for me, and I've always sort of looked at them as an underground kind of thing only to be understood and appreciated by those in the know. Nowadays Yenkos certainly aren't underground by any means, but I still think they're something you really need to understand to fully appreciate. Years back the car to have was the Ferarri Daytona Spyder. Everyone and his brother was plunking down crazy loot to own one, whether they understood and appreciated the car's significance, or simply wanted the car from Miami Vice. Now the "interest" has dropped on these cars for whatever reason, and they don't trade hands for the exorbitant sums that they once did. Are the cars any less valuable or significant to the true Ferarri gurus who coveted them long before the wave of popularity, I guess not, but I don't think the wave of enthusiasm that others once shared for the cars did them any good. That may be a bad example, but it's just what happened to pop into my head, because I know nothing about Ferarri Daytona Spyders other than that they used to be the status car to have, for whatever reason. I'd hate for Yenko cars to assume the same status, and begin to be grabbed up by folks who don't fully appreciate and understand the Yenko legacy. I guess I'm just sayin' that if I see Ashton Kutcher driving a Yenko car before I get mine, I'm gonna puke. I also hope Goldberg watches this site, and would consider attending and enjoying a reunion with a bunch of us true car guys, heck it may be the one place he could go and not be hounded about wrestling all weekend.

One of the bad byproducts of the Daytona Spider craze was that a lot of beautiful Daytona Coupes got chopped in order to make them. At least we don't have to worry about the Yenko population being diminished for something like that...

Your brother's and Frank's stories suggest you shouldn't lose hope for your Yenko!

Someone let me know when a 1963 250L starts coming down in price so I can get rid of one of these crappy yenkos.

You have been given the buy signal. Now is a good time to purchase a Lusso.

[/ QUOTE ] Yes, the article explains the story of him purchasing the lawman, while he was in Japan, through a phone call to his Georgia based broker. Supposedly Goldberg had learned about the "Lawman" for the first time by watching a history channel special highlighting the car only a week or so before it popped up at the 2003 Barrett Jackson. His broker thought he may be interested in it and phoned him in Japan, he apparently was willing to be the high bidder on the car whatever it took. The car supposedly shows 750 miles on the clock. Goldberg explains in the article that the Lawman is currently on loan to a museum near Pigeon Forge, TN and that he hasn't even seen it in person yet, but that he "needs to go see it." He bought the '68 Yenko Camaro and a '70 Camaro Trans Am racer over the phone at the same auction. The article doesn't say anything further about those two cars.

Goldberg was just in town here filming his new movie. I supplied him with some of the cast for it. They all said he was a great guy and treated them great. I guess he was telling one of the guys i know who was his stunt double that he can make 5 times the money that he makes here if he wrestles in japan. So thats what he does now wrestles a few months in japan and makes movies.

There is an interview with Goldberg in the newest edition of Rides Magazine (April/May 2005). Some of the cars he has: 70 Cuda 440 6 pack, 70 Hemi Challenger Convertible, Shelby GT 500, 69 Hemi Charger R/T, 70 black Trans Am race car. He also mentions that he has a 68 Camaro that they only made 7 of, the Yenko? And then he says he thinks they only made 13 of in 69? I'm sorry I don't have a scanner or I would post a copy of it. The article is not worth buying the magazine for.

The current issue of Muscle Car Review (Annual 2005) shows Goldberg with some of his collection. Shows the Lawman. He has only been a passenger in the car.

There is another article with a Yellow ZL1 that is owned by "renowned car collector". Congratulations
