Anyone care to take a stab at the reserve on Al M. 68 Z drop top? I represented the car recently, had a firm offer of 750K but Al wanted 1Mil. Considering the Cuda Convert and what it has changed has at, the Camaro being rarer as one of a kind and the owner history I dont think the asking price is out of line. As the cover of muscle car review said, "Worlds Rarest Camaro". 69 ZL-1 and they are trading around 300K, whats it worth to be the collector who has the only one on the planet.......

Jeff,
With the weapons I would bet you have access to if you want that Camaro it would be a piece of cake for you to convince any owner it now belonged to you. Motown ![]()

It will be interesting to see where that Z-rag ends up. I don't think you can compare it to a Hemi Cuda-rag, a Hemi 426 vs. Z28 302. I would have taken the $750k!

I had always thought that the 68 Z28 conv would be the highest dollar Camaro out there. But now that there's some proof popping up that one of the 69 ZL1's did have the JL8 4 wheel disc brakes, I would think that car would be the ultimate Camaro. If only the car could be found.

I know the story but I'd like to see paperwork on it. If one of the 69 ZL1's produced had rear discs, it would be neat, but I don't see where that would significantly enhance the value. It's just a brake option

I'm not trying to disrespect JL8 cars, but was simply voicing my opinion. I think the '69 Chevelle with F41 is pretty rare, and can bump the value, but it's just a suspension option. The same idea with JL8, and neither scenario makes the car any faster, nor are they hi-perf options. So, I don't really see what the hype is over JL8 cars. I think they are neat, but.... Maybe it's me!

imo, i would still go with the 68 conv. Z. just for the sake of it being built special for pete estes, not only that, but being crossram and 4 wheel disc. equipped. and irrelevent to my opinion the fact is jl8 cars are very rare and sought after, according to the collectors of today.
