I assume it is a "C" code car? They are rarer than cars with the shaker. I bet they made less than 100 of 'em with both trannys. I'd love to see your Marti Report when you receive it. For now, how 'bout some vital stats like color, lasers, etc?

There was a CJ Ranchero 500 at the B-J auction. They made 6 with the CJ-R and 4-speed.

Ha...My Friend bought the SCJ Ranchero that was at Barrett-Jackson. I've been teasing him about the thing and then this thread starts up.

The car was originally a gold color. It was repainted black long ago and will be going back to the original gold. All original panels, you can even still see the part numbers on the backs. The suspension still has all the tags etc on it. Black bench interior, original and excellent. Power steering, AM-FM, sport mirrors, hubcaps. It has slots on it now but the original rims with polyglass are in the bed. It is a very original car.

Charlie, how much did your friend spend? And I assume he's aware there's some issues with the car in order for it to be correct, right?

He bought it at the Kruse Auction after it didn't sell. Yes he knows about all the wrong stuff... I think it is the Crown of his collection...........

The Marti Report finally came in. The guy I got the car from had ordered it so I haven't seen it yet. It looks like everything on the car is original to it and it is one of 24 with that engine/trans combo. Not too shabby I'd say. Time to start on it now!

Jason,

-------Did you happen to buy the car from a divorce lawyer named Dick P? He had a Ranchero that sounds exactly like the one you have described. Even the black repaint. My memory says he was from Manhattan Beach when I knew him back in the early 90s. Nice guy. Would like to get in touch with him again. Could the world be that small?........Bill S

I didn't but the guy I got it from may have. He was just "flipping the car". The guys brother had a 65 Vette roadster if that helps. I have the old registrations and will check them out when I am near them.

So it is a 4-speed C-code? And does it have the Drag Pack?
