427,
That is definitely a different sign than the one we've been looking at, but the sign I was referring to is exactly the one JR referred to. About a foot thick (not a "placard" type sign on the front of the building) and internally lit.
I guess no one ever photographed that one.
Verne.

One of the guys who lives near the old Motion shop needs to go by and take a current photo of the site and post it here.

I may be able to arrange that if no one else makes it before this weekend. I have a friend who usually goes to the "Island" every weekend to visit his kids, and it's a short detour for him to go by and take a few digital shots. I'll ask him if he's willing.

I did take pictures, unfortunately the computer I'm on doesn't have a scanner--If your friend dosen't get a chance to take any photos , I will post the photos I took when I pick up my computer this week---Gary Kupfer( The Localbrush) was nice enough to send me this info on the Motion building and signs---"As far as the questions about the color of the Motion building and the color of the lettering-- First of all it was painted white in the real early days, with an electric sign that had very basic block black letters on a white background. Later the building was painted the Motion colors- yellow with a new electric sign that had bouncing blue lettering and a yellow background. The sign did not last long so I had to paint it on the wall. As I recall the building was painted electric blue and eventually yellow again"--Gary. Hope this helps--JoeG

Cool stuff Joe!
Nothing like getting it from someone who was "there".
I'll wait till Fri. and if a pic of the place "as is" today doesn't show up, I'll ask my buddy to stop by.

I wonder how long that blue and yellow lit sign was up. I swear, I remember that sign. (had my colors backwards though)

Verne.

Here is a picture of the old Motion shop from last year. I took it on the way home from Joel’s house after purchasing Judith’s (Joel’s wife) Motion Mustang GT convertible.
