Rick,
I have spent more time with the car, and it isn't as bad as originally thought I feel. It needs a lot of sheetmetal but I think it has a lot of merit. I'm also working on tracing original paperwork on the car. Will try to send pics this weekend to you... |

Greg,
Is this car currently owned by a guy named Doug? And did he just get it late last summer?

I'm hoping to have a few pics of the car up by this weekend. It is really a neat old car, although rusty and needing full resto.

Forget about the pics for now Greg. Concentrate on verifing and documenting that it is a real L89 car. Only a hand full were built and being a convertable is only 'icing' on the cake.
Take your time and be cautious.

I definitly feel the car is legit..have known about its' existence for at least 15 years as a L89 and prior to that many "old timers" remember the car as a factory L89. I've inspected both car and engine and don't see any problems, as at the very least car is a L78. The broach marks are good to go, and I truthfully think the lack of a POP (as of yet) makes me feel alittle better. A lot of guys fake POP's and if someone was going to fake the car it would have been in the last 15 years. I have already confirmed the car whereabouts since 1970, and the fact that it was being "touted" as an aluminum headed car then. I guess for me, I want factory paperwork, but I can also show countless examples of cars without it that are legit. As far as the value..well plenty of COPO's are being sold with less docs other than a general body build time (we all know someone can find a '69 Camaro and "make" a COPO that will pass scrutiny).
