This is exactly what I was talking about. The bid is over 7 grand for this rust bucket, I promise you some one has a tag swap in mind. Seeing how there is not one piece left of value; save maybe the rear end and motor (described but not shown), some one is buying the paper trail on this car.

The bids will go higher too. The original engine adds tons of value, most people would never notice. I definately don't condone undercover body swaps but I think if you don't try to hide it, swap in all hidden VIN's there's still value in the car & it's better than letting cars with original drive trains die, isn't it?

Bill

I went by that site, don't know what to say really. They have seen a demand for a product and are filling it. Would be kinda like blaming the alcohol industry on your personal drinking habit to put the trim tag place down. I'm assume it's legal for them to be in business?

There are all types of deception out there, just another reason anyone against this should stand firm in all respects. If you start to water it down here and there, you end up with a flood in the end.

The ad says it comes with a TH400, although not saying it is original to the car. I could be wrong, but I thought the SB's got the TH350 in 69 and the BB's got the TH400

Not only that and other things, but how do you distinguish it is a real pace car?

I just assumed it may be because of the high bid, could be fake bidding too I suppose.

It's originally a 4 speed car. look at the cutout in the trans tunnel, and the speedo cable hole is in the trans tunnel just above where the accelerator would come thru the firewall if it was there.

$7300 for a trim tag and some iron oxide is a bit excessive. You could just take the info from the ad and get a tag made at trimtags.com for about 250. Theres nothing else left that worth anything. Certainly you can't move that thing with it missing both rear quarters, no doors inplace. It will fold in half, actually I don't know why it hasn't folded in half just sitting there.

Could be a coincidence, but in reviewing bidder histories the high bidder & back-up bidder are both located within 10-15 miles of seller.

Did you notice the note about the new shells that will be out in the spring?? This will be the coming trend. I have noted the new cowl's that are out there, so I guess is is just logical that the repop's of the shells are next. Two issues here. The real chance that we will soon see rebody restorations on a completely new (spell that Tiawan Made) shell, and the fact that the original cars are getting soo expensive we could soon see replicar Camaros, much like the street rod kits that have been on the market for years. Hell they were doing kit car 53 Corvettes over 10 years ago.

Know what you are buying.......

I caught a seller on eBay using his buddy to run-up the price of some parts. Both the seller and the other bidder had "Me" icons that I clicked on and I found out that they were both from the same town and they both had similar Chevys in their 'collections.' They might have been the same guy for all I knew. I withdrew my bid and he contacted me after the auction asking me if I still wanted the parts. We worked out a deal and I bought the parts for my opening bid. I was happy with the deal but in retrospect I probably should have passed on principle.

BIDDER BEWARE!
