[ QUOTE ] They weren't cheap, but they weren't too bad. I think I paid $650 for the pair. Which isn't bad considering there is nothing out there that looks like the factory headers. Charley had a set on the old 67 Z28 he used to have and they looked sweet. Nothing for my car has been cheap so far. I had to pick a really rare and unique project just so it could be really expensive! [/ QUOTE ] I agree with Jeff. Ain't nothing cheap for 1st generation cars any more. Years ago, Carl Dwiggins, a early muscle car collector in NC, told me he bought the parts he needed no matter what the cost. Rare or otherwise. He advised me to do the same. Little did I know how right he was!

There are some pictures in Jerry MacNeish's Definitive 67-68 Camaro Z28 book, Wayne Guinn's 2 X 4 Crossram Manual and Martyn Schorr's Camaro book.

This is what an NOS set of factory headers looks like. This is the driver's side Bill Thomas style used in '67. Stahl headers do not have the same pipe bends as these but use the same (or similar) style of flange at the cylinder head interface.

Is it true that they stopped offering these headers in 1968?
Therefore if a 69 car has them on they were left over stock.

Nice pictures Jon. I knew the Stahl headers weren't the same tube layout but the closest thing I could find. I never realized how long the collectors were on those Thomas headers. Where did you ever find those headers?

Here is a pic of the factory headers for '68. These were supplied by Kustom. The availability of the factory headers was dropped by the time the '69 Z28 went into production. It is technically possible that some could have ended up on a '69 as a surplus service part (dealer installed via parts department).
