The car was sitting in the seller's backyard since 1977 or '78. Like most solid lifter 4sp car's sitting that long,it still had it's original CE warranty block. All else was original to the car.The miles were low,63K(?).

I wonder if this is the same car that was on eBay a year or two back, in unrestored condition. I definitely remember one, seems to me it was down in the San Diego area, and an LA built special paint car, with no documentation. There was a lot of discussion about it here and/or on Team Chevelle back then.

I remember this car on Ebay too Bill.
You don't see too many 1970 Chevelles with stripe delete on their working cowl Ind. hoods. Astock...can I talk to you about this Chevelle,or should I call the dealer? I see a 1968 Smog Pump on the engine,as well as Repro. Mast Cylinder, among other things..Not bashing this,as I am interested in it. Rick |

Pretty car, to be sure. Looks like a "different" one (in a good way). On the interior front, someone restored the dash with silver around the high beam and directional lights, which is incorrect, although a minor mistake. Other neat cars on the web site.
![]() A Shelby restored by Scott Tiemann is also there--GT500 ![]()

If we're getting picky, the steering wheel shroud appears to be '69 grain as well, with '70 horn buttons. I think the SS emblem is in upside down too, but I sure wouldn't throw it out of my garage.

Guys-
I think you may be trying too hard to find a chink in this cars armor. This was NOT a basket case before restoration, it was an completely unmolested car that was merely parked in 1976 in the owners back yard. The dash is unrestored, if the silver paint is wrong, well, call GM - 'cause that is the way it was! Unless , of course, the owner needed to touch it up when the car was <6 years old. Same with the steering wheel. I can fully appreciate members of this group looking out for each other. Overall, I think a lot of the posts are quite valid especially considering the glut of absolute s$# on the market these days! However, the "guilty until proven innocent" method of judging cars is getting old, at least to me. I am a car collector and enthusiast first and foremost , being a dealer is a side effect of the sickness. Trust me when I say that I look at a LOT of cars and weed out 98% within seconds of seeing them. This Chevelle is a car well known to me that I watched being restored. I welcome any of you to come and look at the car in person, or any of my cars for that matter. I'll even tap off a round of Milwaukee's Finest in the shop. All I ask is that before you jump to conclusions about what is right and what is presumed wrong on a car that you do a little home work first and research the subject. Oh yeah, please don't get my web guy fired up by posting copywrited and water marked pictures from my site! He gets all puffy and starts rattling on about "intelectual property" and "copywright infringment" blah, blah, blah. If you want a picture to use, let me know and I'll send you the picture sans water mark - with my blessings. Best regards to all - Colin Comer Classic Auto |
