What's a "numbers matching engine" on a 68 Camaro 427? Is this one of the rumored 68 COPO 9561s?

Its an automatic, I thought all 68's were 4-speed. Be interesting to see that POP, if it were real wouldnt you think he would show that for maximum bid results along with all the other numbers, I would...

from my understanding there were only 4 automatics built in 68 with 427 copo package only one other known to exist

What's the information on the P-O-P? Also, Yenko wouldn't have done anything with an LA built car, would they?

to the best of our knowledge this is one of the rumored cars that slipped through the door factory built per yenko request.

were there any white cars sold? Also, when I talked to Tim about this car, he indicated that he thought the car was sold through Colonial Chev. Isn't that in VA.

Here is a link to the only known 68 copo
http://groups.msn.com/CaMaRoChiC/196...opocamaro.msnw Also L-72's have iron heads so a copo car would not come with aluminum heads as tims dad said came on the car from the factory, correct? Sam

I find it hard to believe they built an LA 427 car that early in the production year for 68. Almost all the 69 COPO's were Norwood cars. You would need to see the P-O-P and window sticker to see if it looks like they are original and legitimate.

I would agree with Sammy Z, there was only one double COPO 9561/9737 built in 68 and Don Yenko got it, and the only one known to exsist today. The 68 double COPO Camaro was a prototype for the 69.
