When i moved to vancouver in July 1975 Belmont was still in business at Broadway and Fraser. They had the black and white checkered parking lot full of muscle cars-all used ones. It was very common in the for used car dealers in Vancouver to buy wholesale in Ontairo and Quebec and bring cars here. Our nicer climate ment that cars sold new here lasted longer that the salt laden stuff from "back east".
Belmont was still high pressure in 1975. Every close was "sit down and fill out a credit app". $99 down and $99 a month-they never told you how many months. I recall looking at a 70 442 convert there in the fall of 75. the asking price was around $2200,but with their easy finace program the car would cost $3700 over three years. I was able to walk off the lot.

In 1975 I was driving a 1970 W31 4 spd, dark green that I bought from a Datsun dealer in Richmond.

Yeah, I recognise your name now. I had an auto trans W31 as well, but a year later. Can't find any photos though.
I did the stripes on GC's car and a gold W30 in North Van. John C |

Hi Jeff; I do vaguely remember you, but I think you were pretty young at the time. I'm told you have a couple of nice Camaros. I think your uncle sent me some photos last year. They're somewhere in this computer.
![]() I have a cousin in England who was an investment banker, living in Bournemouth. He took stress leave, but then he didn't have COPO Camaros to play with either. ![]() John C |

When the COPO business started a rep from Belmont Chevrolet had to go to the head office for GM in Oshawa. There he placed an order for 10 COPO models. This was the minimum number you could order. Following the first order of COPO cars the orders were simply placed through normal channels at the dealership.
