hi mosportgreen66,you seem to be up on the vettes and i have a question on a 68 tripower 435hp car,it is a matching number car and this person is asking 35k for it.on a scale of 1 to 10 1 being the best i would rate it at a #4 being it isnt a trailer car but a driver and has all the original drivetrain and engine components.is 35k a fair price for a 68 tripower car? Hello Ron C: If I can add my 2 cents; the 1969 model year is a better choice for this model. There are quality issues with the 1968 and there were some design improvements for 1969. Plus because they made so many more 1969's there is a greater choice today. Is it a coupe? Color also plays a role in the price. There was a 1 owner green 1968 convertible 435 HP with low miles that didn't make over $25,000 on ebay some time ago. If you look in Hemmings you will get a fair idea of the prices... Personally I would hold out for a 1969 Corvette. The kind of money you mention would get you a nice one.

hi charles, yea it is a coupe and is silver with the original blue interior.it is all there and never hot rodded, adult owned since new.it is very clean throughout.i thought the price was high being the market is flat for all cars now and i have been watching ebay every day and see the same cars getting relisted all the time.thanks for your reply. Hello Ron C: The 1968 had some running production changes through the model year. Different door pulls for the interior a couple of other small items. Coupes were very scarce at the start of the year, I am guessing that the silver car you mention was built later on? Silver on blue is not one of the more common color combinations. Any documents for the car like bill of sale, tank sticker? Also it is no fun and messy setting the valve clearance hot on the solid lifter cars... Regards

yes charles he has the tank sheet and protectoplate,im guessing it is a 3 owner car with the first two within the same family i think he said.it is a nice car but 35k i think is a little high for a driver.

I'm real familiar with the silver/red COPO export Corvette that is owned by someone in Sheboygan, WI. It is a 390 horse automatic with air and redline tires. It is stunning.
It was ordered by the President of some country and stayed with him for a few years. Well documented with pictures and paperwork. The trim tag on that car has no interior code if I remember correctly. They could not have silver with red on a trim tag so the interior is not coded.
I am very familiar with that red 67 L89 car, I owned it from from 1984 until 1992. I brought it to Sacramento with me when I was transferred there and sent is back to a friend in 1992. I had a correct replacement L71 in it. It was red with red interior. I drove that car over 20,000 miles and ran the snot out of it. I thought it was an L71 during the years that I owned it.

Hello Tim: Many thanks for sharing the information about the silver/red EXPORT Corvette. It sounds like a "Special Collection" candidate. Was it a coupe or convertible? There are some amazing cars out there that could change perceptions about what was really built back then! At least you got to enjoy the red '67 convertible... just think of the repair bill for those soft aluminum heads which were prone to warping. Regards,
